Days ago, a 1979 coin set was put on Yichen web for sale. A certificate in Japanese was shown on the picture, which stated clearly the quantity of distribution was 10,000.
There has never been a conclusion about the quantity of 1979 coin set. Some book did say 10,000, however, it did not give the source of the data, so the reliability has been being questionable. The discovery of the certificate in Japanese proved the previous data.
But, how the Japanese knew the quantity? I’d guess that as the early Chinese Coin Sets were distributed to oversea, certificate was in Chinese and English, which was not understandable for most of the Japanese. It was reasonable the Japanese distributor to add a certificate with local language.
From the quantity of distribution, the rarest one of Five Golden Flowers (5 fen of 1979, 2 fen, 5 fen of 1980, 1 fen, 5 fen of 1981) might not be those of 1980, but 1979. The price order of 5 coins is subject to re-arrange.
